Finnmarksløpet is a challenging long-distance race. It is a race that demands a lot from you and your dog team. To be able to start, you, equipment and dog team must meet the requirements set out in the regulations. This means that it is a prerequisite that you start with dogs that are sufficiently prepared, conditioned and otherwise suitable to be able to compete under the prevailing conditions, and within the time frames that have been set.

General information

The starting fee covers the service at all stations, compulsory pre race check carried out by our race veterinarians in Alta before race starts, as well as participation in the opening and closing events according to the race program.

Entrants from Norway must show valid starting license for NHF at registration before the race. You have to buy this online on Norges hundekjørerforbund/Min idrett before the race. In races that have World Championship status, the participant must have paid the annual license and have a DID-number (Driver Identification Number).

When participating in IFSS-World Championships, participants are required to have a DID-number. The Norwegian Sled Dog Association buys the DID license on behalf of Norwegian athletes. Norwegian participants get a DID license by paying an extra NOK 600 when they pay the regular season license. For participation in Finnmarksløpet IFSS World Championship 2027, the DID must be paid no later than December 1st.

Entrants who dosen‘t sort under a Norwegian dog sled club must provide a license and DID-number from their home country and show it at the registration office before race start. Alternative is to have an insurance that applies to the race as well as DID-number. A DID number must be requested by a Voting National Member or Provisional Member of IFSS. Individuals cannot apply for a DID number directly from IFSS. More information concerning DID number can be found from IFSS website https://sleddogsport.net/eng/65. NOTE! A valid DID number is a signal to IFSS and RGO that the DID holder is entitled to represent his/her Member Federation in the event.

Registration FL-junior

It is very important to read through, as well as understand the content of the text below before completing the online registration form.

  • The starting fee for 2027 is 3 500 NOK (Early Bird price) if you register between August 15 and September 14. If you register between September 15 and January 31, the entry fee is 5 000 NOK (regular price).
  • The lower age limit in the FL-junior is 15 years of age the calendar year starts, the upper age limit is not older than 18 years the calendar year the race starts. In 2027 the start day is 6th of March.
  • To start the FL junior, the participant must have fulfilled a long distance race of at least 100 kilometers with at least one checkpoint. Participants who have not fulfilled qualification requirements upon registration must make sure to send documentation on the qualification completed within February 20th 2027. The documentation is sent to signup@finnmarkslopet.no.
  • To get your registration approved and posted on our website, the starting fee must be paid through the registration system.
  • Deadline for enrollment at the FL-junior is by January 31th 2027. Deadline for being in the draw of starting number is October 31th 2026. It is possible to apply for registration after January 31. Applications should be sent to signup@finnmarkslopet.no.
  • If your application for late registration after January 31, 2027 is approved, an extra fee of 1 000 NOK will apply. From February 1, 2027, the entry fee will therefore be 6 000 NOK.
  • If entrant withdrawal from the race within January 31th 2026, a refunded of 50 % of the starting fee will be done. After January 31th = no refund will be done. Entrants can check out own holiday and leisure insurance.

Registration FL-300

It is very important to read through, as well as understand the content of the text below before completing the online registration form.

  • The Starting fee for 2027 is 5 500 NOK (Early Bird price) if you register between August 15 and September 14. If you register between September 15 and November 30, the entry fee is 7 000 NOK (regular price).
  • The age limit for participation is 18 years. In 2027 the start date is 5h of March.
  • To start FL-300, participants must meet the following qualification requirements: The participant must have completed one senior race of at least 100 km with one checkpoint, or alternatively have completed a junior race of 200 km (Femundløpet junior or Finnmarksløpet junior). Participants who have not fulfilled qualification requirements when signing up must make sure to send documentation on the qualification completed within February 20th 2027. The documentation is sent to signup@finnmarkslopet.no
  • To get your registration approved and posted on our website, the starting fee must be paid through the registration system. If the participant is unable to start the race due to the high number of participants, the entire starting fee will be refunded.
  • Deadline for signing up is by November 30th 2026. Deadline for being in the lottery draw of starting number is October 31th. It is possible to apply for entry later than November 30th. This must be send to signup@finnmarkslopet.no
  • For an approved application for late registration after November 30, 2026, an extra fee of 1 000 NOK will apply. From December 1, 2026, the entry fee will therefore be 8 000 NOK.
  • If entrant withdrawal from the race within November 30th 2026, a refunded of 50 % of the starting fee will be done. After November 30th, no refund will be done. Entrants can check out own holiday and leisure insurance.
  • If there is available capacity in other classes, it is possible to switch classes.

Registration FL-600

It is very important to read through, as well as understand the content of the text below before completing the online registration form.

  • The Starting fee for 2027 is 8 500 NOK (Early Bird price) if you register between August 15 and September 14. If you register between September 15 and November 30, the entry fee is 10 000 NOK (regular price).
  • The age limit for participation is 18 years. In 2027 the start date is 6th of March.
  • To start the FL-600, the participant must meet qualification requirements for Finnmarksløpets open class (FL-1200), or have completed a long-distance race of at least 150 kilometers with at least one checkpoint within the last three seasons. Participants who have not fulfilled qualification requirements when signing up must make sure to send documentation on the qualification completed within February 20th 2027. The documentation is sent to signup@finnmarkslopet.no
  • To get your registration approved and posted on our website, the starting fee must be paid through the registration system. If the participant is unable to start the race due to the high number of participants, the entire starting fee will be refunded.
  • Deadline for signing up is by November 30th 2026. Deadline for being in the lottery draw of starting number is October 31th. It is possible to apply for entry later than November 30th. This must be send to signup@finnmarkslopet.no

Registration FL-1200

  • The starting fee for 2027 is 16 000 NOK (Early Bird price) if you register between August 15 and September 14. If you register between September 15 and November 30, the entry fee is 17 500 NOK (regular price)
  • The age limit for participation is 18 years. In 2027 the start day is 5th of March.
  • To start the FL-1200, participants must have completed Finnmarksløpet 500/600, Femundløpet 600/650, Bergebyløpet 650, Gold Rush Run 501 or a similar long distance race of at least 500 kilometers with at least one checkpoint within the last five seasons. Participants who have fulfilled the FL-1000/1200 is qualified for FL-1200 in 8 seasons from the year the race was fulfilled. Participants who have not fulfilled qualification requirements when signing up must make sure to send documentation on the qualification completed within February 20th 2027. The documentation is sent to signup@finnmarkslopet.no
  • To get your registration approved and posted on our website, the starting fee must be paid through the registration system. If the participant is unable to start the race due to the high number of participants, the entire starting fee will be refunded.

  • If there is available capacity in other classes, it is possible to switch classes. No refund is given when switching to FL-600 or FL-300.
